Piper Alderman welcomes back dispute resolution and litigation partner
25/03/2019
Martin del Gallego returns to Piper Alderman this week as a dispute resolution and litigation partner in the Sydney office. Martin started his career with Piper Alderman in 2008 and left in 2012 to pursue opportunities in Western Australia. Martin then moved to the UK in 2015, and re-joins us from US headquartered international law firm, Covington & Burling LLP, where he worked in their London office.
Martin has over 10 years’ experience in high stakes and high value litigation. Focusing on complex, multi-party, multi-jurisdiction disputes, he has extensive experience litigating across a broad range of sectors including financial services, energy & resources, construction, insolvency, and class actions. Martin is a seasoned trial lawyer, with trial experience in the Supreme Court of Western Australia, Supreme Court of New South Wales, the Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia, as well as in complex litigation in offshore jurisdictions such as before the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court in the BVI, and St Lucia.
Commenting on his decision to return to Piper Alderman, Martin said:
“After litigating away from my home jurisdiction for 7 years, the decision to return to the firm where it all began for me was an easy one. I am delighted to be joining the Partnership and to work alongside the firm’s excellent practitioners, many of whom I was fortunate enough to have been mentored by as a junior lawyer. The firm is doing brilliant work, has developed important relationships with key clients in Sydney’s burgeoning litigation market, and I look forward to doing my best to contribute to the firm’s ongoing success.”
Martin joins the national dispute resolution and litigation team in Sydney with partners Florian Ammer, Anne Freeman, Gordon Grieve and Simon Morris. Martin will be working closely with the national team on complex representative proceedings, funded litigation and international disputes.
Tony Britten-Jones, Managing Partner said he was delighted to welcome Martin back to the firm after seven years.
“Martin joins a very experienced and dynamic dispute resolution and litigation team in our Sydney office. His recent experience in the UK will further strengthen our national offering to clients and we are excited to have Martin back with the firm. His return speaks volumes as to the goodwill we have with our Piper Alderman alumni.”
