Piper Alderman is thrilled to invite you to the next instalment of our Defence & Space Masterclass Series ‘The Woomera Manual – The Law Applicable to Commercial and Military Activities in Space featuring guest speaker Professor Dale Stephens CSM FAAL.

This presentation will provide a high-level overview of the international law governing commercial and military activities in outer space. The commercial value of outer space continues to expand, attracting ongoing growth and interest, but the use of space is governed by a radically different regime to the more familiar terrestrial, air and marine domains.

With this in mind, Professor Stephens will canvas the risks and implications arising from commercial activity in space with particular respect to liability and responsibility issues. There will be a correlative discussion of the implications of this analysis with respect to broader Use of Force and Law of Armed Conflict issues. The war in Ukraine has particularly focussed attention to the use of commercial space assets and the risks that commercial operators are balancing in providing services in and associated with that conflict. He will also briefly touch on the Australian domestic regulatory regime, and of course, the upcoming Woomera Manual – which takes an in-depth look at all areas of potential concern for commercial and military activities in outer space.

Spots are strictly limited, RSVP now to secure your place at this must-see event.

The workshop is open to all organisations, excluding other legal service providers.
